Our Story!

Renée Stilson founded Home Sweet Home Pet Care and has been caring for pets in their own homes since 1999. Rebecca Smolen became the owner in 2022 and continues to provide the amazing care that Home Sweet Home clients are accustomed to. We specialize in inner Southeast Portland and have many loyal clients and references, including Vets!

At Home Sweet Home Pet Care, we are reliable, professional, caring, knowledgeable, trustworthy. You will arrive home from your time away with contented animals who have been well cared for.

We visit your home and pets, give them love and attention, exercise and reassurance along with their meals and any other special needs. Our goal is for them to feel safe and secure while you are away and for you to have a worry-free experience on your trip or during your workday.

We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry!

Rebecca (Becca) Smolen

I am an avid animal lover, pet sitter, and poet. What I love most is knowing your pets are comfortable and happy to see me when you are gone as well as knowing you feel comfortable leaving your loved ones in my care.

I enjoy the puzzle of getting to break through to the shyer types and the love of the all too generous pets too.

I worked as a vet tech for 14 years and have been known to be drawn to animals all my life. Recently, I have begun my journey as a death doula, helping to ease when the time might be right and assist the transition with the family.

People have described me as a golden retriever, which I adore, and I also know the intensity there is to have the love of a cat.

Cats and dogs are what I have the most experience caring for, especially in the veterinary field but I have also cared for chickens, snakes, amphibians, fish, other reptiles, and pocket pets.

My favorite sayings is, “Be the person your pet thinks you are!”

Earning a cat's trust is so rewarding!
